About Lewis

Publishing experience.
Editorial judgement.

I help authors and publishers find the clearest, strongest and most publishable version of an ambitious book.

I’m Lewis O’Sullivan, a publishing consultant and editor based in Margate, Kent.

I spent more than 15 years at Risk Books, part of Infopro Digital, commissioning and developing commercial non-fiction by leading practitioners and academics. Much of that work sat in finance, risk, markets, governance and quantitative subjects—fields where credibility matters, but clarity determines whether the ideas actually travel.

Alongside books, I provide pre-submission editorial support to academics and authors preparing papers for scholarly and professional journals, helping make technically strong research clear, coherent and ready for its intended readership.

Today I work directly with authors and publishing teams at the points where senior editorial judgement makes the greatest difference: shaping an idea, strengthening a proposal, finding the architecture of a manuscript, diagnosing what is holding a book back or guiding a demanding project towards publication.

My approach is candid, collaborative and practical. I’m not interested in imposing a house voice or making experts sound more “literary”. I listen for the clearest version of what an author is trying to say, then help remove what gets in its way. The finished book should be stronger, more readable and more publishable, while remaining recognisably theirs.

I work with first-time authors, experienced subject-matter experts and publishers needing trusted senior support. I’m based in Margate and work with clients across the UK and internationally.

What matters to me

A good editor doesn’t replace the author’s voice. They help the author hear it more clearly.
